What is the Musical Lab?
This is the second iteration of “Muzosynth Musical Lab”, a series of free workshops and a culminating performance on experimental collective improvisation for children. The lab is organized and taught by Muzosynth Orchestra's co-founders, Katherine Kyu Hyeon Lim and Joey Chang.
Experimental music is usually taught as something that lies at the end of a traditional music training path, but we find that wrong and want to encourage more kids to recognize they can play around with music and sound as art from the get go. You can learn more about us here.
Each session will present some tools and specific Black, POC, and women artists that have had great influence upon our own work. The workshops will have a spirit of no wrong answers, no gatekeeping, just sharing, in the style of “here's some stuff we know; now do what you want with it”.
